Description
"STOP LINE 3" spray-painted on a bridge that crosses over a bike path. Since 2014, grassroots coalitions of tribal members, other community members, and environmental organizations have fought to prevent Enbridge, a Canadian oil company, from carrying out its plans to expand and reroute "Line 3," a massive pipeline that carries oil from Alberta's tar sands region through northern Minnesota to Superior, Wisconsin. The pipeline violates treaties granting hunting, fishing, and gathering rights to the Ojibwe people. The proposed pipeline route crosses 200 bodies of water, including twice crossing the Mississippi River.
