STOP LINE 3
Description
An account of the resource
"STOP LINE 3" spray-painted on a bridge that crosses over a bike path. Since 2014, grassroots coalitions of tribal members, other community members, and environmental organizations have fought to prevent Enbridge, a Canadian oil company, from carrying out its plans to expand and reroute "Line 3," a massive pipeline that carries oil from Alberta's tar sands region through northern Minnesota to Superior, Wisconsin. The pipeline violates treaties granting hunting, fishing, and gathering rights to the Ojibwe people. The proposed pipeline route crosses 200 bodies of water, including twice crossing the Mississippi River.

HONOR THE TREATIES
Description
An account of the resource
A sticker placed near a community cooperative grocery store in Ashland, Wisconsin, USA features an illustration of an Indigenous American child with head thrown back and arms stretched toward the sky in a reverential posture. In the background are silhouettes of riders on horseback. The illustration is executed in yellow, red, black, and white, representing the four sacred colors of an aboriginal medicine wheel. The wheel is also present as a repeating element embedded between the words, which read, "HONOR THE TREATIES" "#STOPLINE3" "#STOPLINE5". The sticker references ongoing controversial pipeline projects that disrupt Indigenous lands.

Line 5 is also an Enbridge pipeline that runs through Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac Great Lakes region. The current contested proposal is to replace the aging pipeline with a new one routed through a tunnel beneath the Great Lakes, which are central to Anishinaabe life and culture.
