Climate Change is Real
climate change
A colorful patchwork mural depicts changing weather patterns affecting the planet as factory smokestack releases emissions. A human eye and lightbulb perhaps encourage the viewer to notice what is happening and think about the future. A long tentacle curls around the smokestack, possibly representing nature overtaking industrialization. A bold caption proclaims "Climate Change is Real." In the Instagram post, @climateactionart explains, "Street art has so much power, not just because of scale, but also because of how many hands touch it, like this underlying mural enhanced by all the subsequent tags. Becomes something more dynamic over time."

If Climate Were A Work of Art
Climate Change
According to the artist, this diptych spraypainted on utility boxes conveys "a strong message that we want a government that puts climate change on top of the agenda ✊. It is still treated as climate change will solve itself. But like the hourglass on the wrist of our painted figure: time is running out ⌛️!!" (cited from artist's Instagram post).

Too Late
climate change
This large mural of Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg appears on the side of a building in Bristol, England. It was painted in May, 2019 for Upfest, Europe's largest street art festival. Thunberg had received worldwide notoriety for her climate activism, including solo strikes that sparked the global youth #FridaysForFuture movement. In keeping with the ecologically responsible message of the piece, the artist explained on his Instagram that "65-70% of the wall was painted with water based paint with an electric spray gun powered by the Tobacco Factories solar cells. I used a minimum of conventional spray paint - around 25 full cans I’ve counted as this was a big consideration given the theme of the wall."

The artist, Jody Thomas, posted images and video of the mural in progress on his Instagram (@jody_artist).

This image of the mural was sourced from the Flickr account of Andrew Gustar under a Creative Commons 2.0 license.

The image received substantial media coverage.
