Description
An account of the resource
Big block letters stretched across several sections of brick wall along a city sidewalk declare, "Clean Air is a Human Right." The work references a grassroots campaign by residents living in the vicinity of former gasworks sites in London, England that have been redeveloped into affordable housing. Residents are concerned that residual toxic contamination in the soil is a health hazard. They are demanding clean-up of the brownfield sites, with independent air quality monitoring during the process to ensure that toxic substances are not released during the process.

Against the backdrop of a dingy brick wall, a colorful mural depicts a young girl with her eyes closed seemingly inhaling the scent of a flower while a bubble around her head protects her from ominous black air pollution. The adjacent panel reads, "WE WANT INDEPENDENT MONITORING." Amman, Jordan
Description
An account of the resource
A mural pictures a young person wearing a paper bag crown perched in a slumped posture atop a crate amidst boxes and trash. The person is wearing an oxygen mask connected to a bell jar containing a green plant while mournfully contemplating factories and their emissions. This work was created as part of the Baladk Street Art Festival in Amman Jordan. As the artist explains in the Instagram post from which this image was sourced, "The theme of this year is all about the environment and waste management, so the concept of this mural is about reflecting on our position as humans in all of this, being on top of all the advancements we created yet ignoring how fragile and in denial we are when it comes to our responsibility and importance of the environment."

A colorful patchwork mural depicts changing weather patterns affecting the planet as factory smokestack releases emissions. A human eye and lightbulb perhaps encourage the viewer to notice what is happening and think about the future. A long tentacle curls around the smokestack, possibly representing nature overtaking industrialization. A bold caption proclaims "Climate Change is Real." In the Instagram post, @climateactionart explains, "Street art has so much power, not just because of scale, but also because of how many hands touch it, like this underlying mural enhanced by all the subsequent tags. Becomes something more dynamic over time."

In a mural on the side of a building, an enormous sparrow perches on a sagging chainlink fence while holding a plastic drinking straw in its beak. The caption reads "IT'S OH SO QUIET." As explained in the artist's own December 16, 2019 Instagram post of the piece, this ordinary songbird is "endangered with rapidly decreasing numbers! They are suffering from habitat loss due to overpopulating cities and a lack of food due to; pesticides and herbicides being used on the crops in the countryside which feeds an over populated country... im sure that when the last bird is no longer around to be heard anymore, we can start to vote in governments that give a shit about the environment and the fragile state of its biodiversity." Description
An account of the resource
In this colorful and complex mural, an adult whale and baby whale are trapped in a gigantic water bottle. Curious onlookers take photos with their phones while uniformed officials appear to control the crowd. Meanwhile, a scientist in a white lab coat speaks to one of several industrial workers clad in construction helmets near a large pipeline coming from the bottle's spout. The public and industry workers are separated by a giant set of plastic can rings stretched across a small stream. Other than the stream, all water in this arid landscape is contained in the enormous bottle. The artist explained in his Instagram post that the work addresses "the rate of excessive consumption of natural resources and pollution with waste, specifically water as one of the most precious goods. A possible future scenario if we do not begin to correctly manage our passage through the planet. We must be able to guarantee the supply of water to future generations."

Description
An account of the resource
This large mural of Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg appears on the side of a building in Bristol, England. It was painted in May, 2019 for Upfest, Europe's largest street art festival. Thunberg had received worldwide notoriety for her climate activism, including solo strikes that sparked the global youth #FridaysForFuture movement. In keeping with the ecologically responsible message of the piece, the artist explained on his Instagram that "65-70% of the wall was painted with water based paint with an electric spray gun powered by the Tobacco Factories solar cells. I used a minimum of conventional spray paint - around 25 full cans I’ve counted as this was a big consideration given the theme of the wall."

Description
An account of the resource
The artist has painted a bright mural on a wall in front of a tree that creates an illusion that the tree's roots are a large hand clawing up the pavement. The artist described the work on Instagram as follows,
La nature reprendra ses droits, et du bitume la couleur jaillera...une graine d espoir✨
Nature reclaims its rights, and color will emerge from the bitumen...a seed of hope✨"
